- 1 34 cups cake flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 14 teaspoon clove
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 5 tablespoons boiling water
- 12 cup butter
- 1 12 cups sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 12 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 egg whites
Method
- Preheat oven to 350*.
- Grease 2 8-inch round pans.
- Sift flour before measuring, resift with baking powder.
- Add salt, cinnamon, cloves and chopped nuts.
- In double boiler melt chocolate, add boiling water and set aside.
- Cream butter until soft, add sugar, and cream again.
- Add egg yolks to cream mixture 1 at a time as you beat them into the batter.
- Now add cooled chocolate mixture, and mix well.
- Alternate flour and milk into chocolate mixture.
- Stir until smooth, add vanilla and set aside.
- Whip egg whites until stiff.
- Fold lightly into cake batter.
- Pour into 2 8" round pans.
- Bake about 30-35 minutes.
- Frost as desired.
