Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. prepared pie dough
  • 8 medium apples, peeled, cored and halved
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Method

  • Cut each pie dough into 4 pieces (16) and wrap each piece around an apple half; place seam side down into greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Combine sugar, water, butter and vanilla; pour into the pan.
  • Sprinkle cinnamon over the dumplings.
  • Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and apples are tender.
  • Serve immediately.
