Ingredients

  • 2 Qt Half & Half
  • 1 Qt Whipping Cream
  • 3 Cup Sugar
  • 4 each Vanilla Beans
  • 2 Tb Double Strength Vanilla Extract

Method

  • Cut and scrap the beans and then combine everything, including beans and seeds, in a large saucepan. Place over medium heat and whole stirring every now and then bring it to about 170 degrees. Put the pan down into an ice bath to cool and stir often. Once cool enough to touch pull out the bean hulls and pour the rest into a lidded container and refrigerate over night, at least 8 hours.
  • Freeze in a standard mixer and serve, or put into the freezer to harden then serve.
