Ingredients
- 1 c. Crisco shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. flour
- 1 c. chopped pecans
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 1/2 c. chopped dates, dredged in flour
Method
- Cream together shortening, sugars and eggs.
- Stir in water and vanilla.
- Stir in flour gradually, mixing well.
- Mix in dates and nuts.
- Press cookie dough into greased jelly roll pan (dough should be about 1/4-inch deep).
- Bake at 350° until lightly browned.
- (Do not overcook.
- Dough in oven should still be slightly puffy looking.)
- Cook 10 to 15 minutes.
- Cut into bars.
