Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • few grains salt

Method

  • Heat milk, sugar and a few grains salt in top of double broiler.
  • Beat egg yolks slightly; add some of the heated milk. Mix and pour back into remaining milk.
  • Place over hot, not boiling water.
  • Cook, stirring constantly until custard coats metal spoon. Remove at once; add vanilla and place pan in bowl of cold water. Stir occasionally until cool.
  • Makes about 2 cups.
  • Great over jello, pound cake, etc., for easy dessert.
