Ingredients

  • 3 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. chopped onions
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 42 oz. can kidney beans
  • 2 (16 oz.) can tomatoes, well drained
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne

Method

  • Brown the beef in a large skillet.
  • Drain and place in a slow cooker.
  • Saute chopped onions in a small amount of shortening. Stir in chili powder and cook a minute longer.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the beef mixture.
  • Cook 8 to 10 hours on low setting or 1 1/2 hours on high and then 5 hours on low.
