Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups cubed, cooked ham
  • 1 cup cubed sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 small tomatoes, peeled, seeded, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped green pepper

Method

  • Melt butter in a small saucepan over low heat; add flour, stirring well. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly. Add mustard, hot sauce, and salt; stir until smooth. Stir in ham, cheese, tomatoes, and green pepper.
  • Pour mixture into a lightly greased 1-quart casserole. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. Serve over toast points or hot cooked rice.
