Ingredients
- 3 sticks butter
- 6 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
- 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
- 3 c. sugar
- dash of salt
- 3 c. sifted cake flour or 3 c. sifted plain flour minus 6 Tbsp.
Method
- Have butter, cream cheese and eggs at room temperature.
- Cream butter and cream cheese thoroughly (about 10 minutes).
- Add sugar. Beat another 10 minutes, scraping sides of bowl.
- Add eggs and beat another 10 minutes.
- Add flavoring and salt.
- Add flour gradually on slow speed.
- Beat only until mixed well.
- Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
- Put into a cold oven.
- Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.
- Do not peek while baking!!!
