Ingredients

  • 3 sticks butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla or lemon extract
  • 1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
  • 3 c. sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 3 c. sifted cake flour or 3 c. sifted plain flour minus 6 Tbsp.

Method

  • Have butter, cream cheese and eggs at room temperature.
  • Cream butter and cream cheese thoroughly (about 10 minutes).
  • Add sugar. Beat another 10 minutes, scraping sides of bowl.
  • Add eggs and beat another 10 minutes.
  • Add flavoring and salt.
  • Add flour gradually on slow speed.
  • Beat only until mixed well.
  • Pour into a greased and floured tube pan.
  • Put into a cold oven.
  • Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Do not peek while baking!!!
