Ingredients

  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1 c. flour *
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. corn syrup
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  • Heat oven to 375°.
  • Mix sugar, 1/2 cup margarine (butter), the vanilla, egg and unsweetened chocolate.
  • Stir in flour and salt. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Flatten each cookie with greased bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
  • Bake until set, about 8 minutes.
  • Cool cookies completely.
  • Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
