Ingredients

  • 2 sticks oleo, softened
  • 2 lb. powdered sugar
  • 4 oz. German chocolate bar
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 11 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Put chocolate in saucepan and melt in 1/4 cup water.
  • Cool. (May boil water and add chocolate.)
  • Cream together oleo and cheese.
  • Gradually add the 2 pounds powdered sugar.
  • Mix well. Add chocolate mixture to this.
  • Beat until well blended.
  • Remove 3 cups (or about 1/2 of this) mixture and set aside, covered.
