Ingredients
- 158 ml unsifted flour
- 12 teaspoon baking powder
- 225 ml sugar
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 80 ml butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 unsweetened chocolate squares
- 118 ml chopped raisins
- 60 ml chopped nuts (optional)
Method
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt together in a bowl.
- Melt butter and chocolate in a double boiler.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs well.
- Add sugar to the eggs gradually, beating the mixture after each addition.
- Add the raisins and vanilla to the egg mixture.
- Add the flour, baking powder and salt to the egg mixture.
- Stir in the nuts, if using them.
- Preheat oven to 175C.
- Grease a square cookie sheet.
- Pour the dough in, taking care to level it out.
- Bake for 25 minutes, until it turns a golden brown.
- Cool before cutting into bars.
