Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 medium onion (optional) or 4 green onions (plus tops)
  • 1 bell pepper
  • 2 carrots
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. celery salt or seed

Method

  • Grate together cabbage, onion, bell pepper and carrots; set aside.
  • Combine sugar, salad oil, vinegar, salt, dry mustard and celery salt or seed.
  • Bring to boil.
  • Pour over cabbage mixture while still hot.
  • Cover and chill overnight.
  • Keeps 2 to 3 weeks.
