Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 green peppers, chopped
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. hot sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 2 Tbsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 (28 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 1 (12 oz.) can kidney beans
  • 1 (12 oz.) can baked beans
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar

Method

  • In a large pot, brown ground beef and drain off grease.
  • Add green peppers and onion; saute until soft.
  • Add the spices and seasonings.
  • Add tomatoes and tomato paste.
  • Drain and rinse kidney beans and add them to the pot.
  • Add baked beans and brown sugar; simmer for 1/2 hour.
  • Makes 1 gallon.
