Ingredients

  • 1 lg. onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 c. chopped celery
  • 1/4 c. margarine
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 3/4 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 c. chicken broth
  • 3 c. chopped potatoes
  • 1 c. chopped carrots
  • 3 c. milk
  • 3. c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 lb. Kielbasa sausage, sliced thin (optional)

Method

  • Saute onion and celery in margarine for 3 minutes. Stir in flour, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Cook until vegetables are coated and mixture is bubbly. Stir in broth, carrots and potatoes. Bring to boil, then simmer stirring occasionally until vegetables are tender. Add milk; heat but do not boil. Stir in cheese until melted. Add pepper and salt.
