Ingredients

  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck
  • 3/4 c. brown rice, cooked
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 2 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 cans tomato sauce
  • 1/3 c. vinegar or lemon juice
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar

Method

  • Cook cabbage leaves for 4 minutes in boiling salted water; drain.
  • Brown ground chuck; drain.
  • Mix meat with cooked brown rice, minced onion, salt, pepper and tomato sauce.
  • Divide meat into 12 portions, each portion placed in center of each cabbage leaf.
  • Roll and fold, seam side down in large baking dish.
