Ingredients
- 5 c. bread cubes
- 2 qt. milk
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 8 eggs
- 1/2 c. raisins
Method
- Scald milk.
- Separately, beat eggs slightly.
- Add sugar, salt and vanilla to eggs.
- Beat.
- Add the scalded milk to the egg and vanilla mixture.
- Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan with some of the butter.
- Place bread and raisins in the pan.
- Then pour the warm milk mixture over the bread.
- Bake at 325° for about 1 hour or until a knife comes out clean.
- At 30 minutes into cooking time, stir the mixture lightly, otherwise the bread will sink to the bottom.
