Ingredients
- 1 gal. sliced cucumbers
- 8 onions, sliced
- 1/2 c. coarse salt
- 5 c. sugar
- 5 c. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. pickling spices
- 1 tsp. turmeric
Method
- Pack the cucumbers, onions and coarse salt in 1 quart ice; let stand 3 hours.
- Drain well.
- Boil together the sugar, vinegar and pickling spices, tied in cloth.
- Remove spices.
- Add the turmeric and cucumbers; heat to boiling point, but do not boil.
- Place pickles in pint jars and seal.
- Makes about 7 pints.
