Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic sliced
  • 1/2 red chili long, thinly sliced
  • 1 pound sirloin steak thinly sliced
  • 7 ounces button mushrooms halved
  • 2 tablespoons palm sugar grated, or brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 12 ounces broccolini cut into 1 1/4 inch pieces
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
  • rice or noodles, to serve

Method

  • Heat oil in a wok and stir-fry garlic and chili for 1 min. Add beef and brown for 3-4 mins. Add mushrooms and cook for 1-2 mins. Add palm sugar, soy sauce, mirin and sesame oil. Simmer, covered, for 5-7 mins, stirring occasionally. Add broccolini and cornstarch slurry. Simmer, stirring, for 2 mins. Serve with rice or noodles.
