Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 1 cup milk
- Additional milk
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Method
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal. Sprinkle 1 cup milk evenly over flour mixture, stirring until dry ingredients are moistened.
- Turn dough out onto a wellfloured surface; knead lightly 10 to 12 times.
- Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet. Brush each with milk, and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 450° for 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
