- 12 cup butter
- 1 cup chopped yellow onion
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 12 cup ketchup
- 14 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon ground pepper
- 14 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon basil (dry or fresh)
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Method
- In a medium sauce pan over medium high heat melt the butter then add the onions and garlic.
- Saute until the onions are tender (about 5 minutes).
- Add the remaining ingredients, bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer until ready to serve.
- You can add the Cayenne pepper to suit your taste.
- I usually make a weak batch for the light weights and a hotter batch for the real lovers of a spicy sauce.
