Ingredients
- 2 c. macaroni
- 1/2 lb. sharp Cheddar
- 4 tsp. minced onion
- 3/4 tsp. salt and pepper
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. dry mustard
- 2 c. milk
- fine dry bread crumbs
Method
- Melt butter and add onion, flour, mustard, salt, pepper and milk.
- Cut 3/4 of cheese in thin slices and add to mixture, stirring constantly until cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat. Boil macaroni in salted water for 9 minutes.
- Butter casserole dish and mix sauce and macaroni.
- Slice rest of cheese and lay on top of mixture.
- Sprinkle liberally with fine, dry bread crumbs and bake (uncovered) at 350° for approximately 1 hour.
