Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped black walnut
- 1 cup flaked coconut
Method
- Cream butter in a large mixing bowl.
- Gradually add sugar, beating until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and beat well.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Gradually add to creamed mixture, blending well.
- Stir in walnuts and coconut.
- Shape dough into 1-inch balls.
- Place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie.
- Press center of each cookie with finger to form the button.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Remove to wire racks to cool.
- Yield: 5 dozen.
