Ingredients
- 5 c. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. shortening
- 1 pkg. (1 Tbsp.) dry yeast
- 4 Tbsp. warm water
- 2 c. fresh buttermilk
Method
- Sift dry ingredients, cut in shortening with pastry blender. Dissolve yeast in warm water; add to dry ingredients with buttermilk; mix well.
- Roll out 1/4-inch thick; cut with round biscuit cutter.
- Dip in melted butter; fold in half.
- Bake at 400° for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Use what you need, put the rest in refrigerator.
- These will keep in fridge or may be frozen.
- No need to thaw out, just place from freezer to oven.
- Place 3 to 4 tablespoons butter in pan for biscuits.
