Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground chuck, ground once
  • 1 large can tomatoes
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 can chow mein noodles
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • soy sauce
  • 1 c. rice, uncooked
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 bud garlic, minced

Method

  • Sear meat in heavy skillet in small pat of butter until lightly browned.
  • Add rice and stir.
  • Add tomatoes, cut through with knife. Add chopped peppers, onion, celery and garlic.
  • Stir well, salt and pepper to taste and bring to boil.
  • Turn heat to lowest flame and simmer, covered, for 1 hour.
  • Do not lift lid or stir during last cooking.
  • Serve over chow mein noodles with soy sauce.
  • Serves 8 or 10.
