Ingredients
- 3/4 c. margarine or butter
- 2 eggs
- pinch of salt
- 3/4 c. almonds, sliced, slivered or chopped
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. almond flavoring
- sugar to sprinkle on top
Method
- Melt margarine and mix with sugar.
- Add eggs, flour, salt and flavoring.
- Mix well.
- Pour batter into 9-inch iron skillet which has been lined with aluminum foil, shiny side up.
- Cover top with almonds and sprinkle on sugar.
- Bake 30 minutes in 350° oven.
- May take longer in some ovens, cake should be light brown.
- Remove cake from pan when it cools and peel off foil.
- Do not remove foil while it is hot.
- Wrap tightly to store.
- Freezes well.
