Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine, softened
  • 1 c. Gold Medal flour
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1 c. flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Confectioners Sugar Glaze
  • chopped nuts

Method

  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Cut 1/2 cup butter into 1 cup flour. Sprinkle water into mixture and mix with fork.
  • Round into a ball and divide in half.
  • On ungreased baking sheet, pat each half into a 12 x 3-inch strip.
  • Strips should be 3-inches apart.
  • In medium saucepan, heat margarine and water to rolling boil.
  • Remove from heat and quickly stir in extract and flour.
  • Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball (about 1 minute).
  • Remove from heat.
  • Beat eggs and add to mixture until smooth.
  • Spread mixture evenly over strips, covering completely.
