Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 lb. round steaks
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 2 large stalks celery
  • 6 large carrots, julienne sliced
  • 1 large can tomato sauce
  • seasoned pepper
  • seasoned meat tenderizer (Aldoph's; no m.s.g.)
  • cooking oil

Method

  • Sprinkle meat with pepper, meat tenderizer and then flour.
  • Fry until lightly browned on medium-high heat.
  • Place cooked meat in a large casserole dish.
  • Layer onions, celery and carrots over meat. Then pour tomato sauce over all.
  • Bake at 250° for 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, cooked peas and hot rolls.
