Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. butter or margarine
  • 4 sq. (4 oz.) unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. pecans, coarsely broken

Method

  • In a double boiler over hot water, stirring often, melt butter and chocolate.
  • Remove from range and double boiler bottom; reserve.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together flour and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth.
  • Add reserved chocolate mixture and beat to blend.
  • Fold in pecans.
  • Turn into a buttered 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
  • Bake in a preheated 350° oven until a cake tester inserted in center comes out clean, about 25 minutes. Loosen edges; cool and cut into squares.
