Ingredients

  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 8 tsp. margarine
  • 8 (1 oz.) slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 c. bottled Russian dressing
  • 1 lb. sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
  • 1 lb. thickly sliced corned beef

Method

  • Adjust oven rack to lowest position.
  • Heat oven to 400°.
  • Have a cookie sheet ready.
  • Spread one side of bread with oleo.
  • Place 4 slices butter side down on cookie sheet.
  • Cover each with one slice Swiss cheese, 1 tablespoon dressing, 1/4 of sauerkraut, 1/4 of corned beef, another tablespoon of dressing and another slice of cheese.
  • Cover with remaining bread, butter side up.
  • Bake about 20 minutes, turning sandwiches once.
  • Makes 4.
