Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. honey
  • 1 tsp. salt

Method

  • Combine milk, honey and salt.
  • Combine flour and shortening in a separate bowl, cutting shortening in.
  • Slowly add the liquid and dry ingredients together and mix well.
  • Roll out as if for pie crust except cut into lattice strips (1/2 to 1-inch wide).
  • Place strips in a crisscross pattern (or checkerboard) in the bottom of baking pan and place another layer on top after filling is added.
