Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • 1 (No. 2 1/2) can sliced peaches
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon peel

Method

  • Melt butter in a 7 x 11-inch baking dish.
  • Sift together dry ingredients.
  • Add milk and stir well.
  • Pour into the baking dish. Do not stir.
  • Top with peaches, including juice.
  • Sprinkle nutmeg, cinnamon and lemon peel over peaches, but do not stir.
  • Bake in 350° oven 40 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serves 6 to 8.
