Ingredients
- 3 c. flour
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 egg
- 3/4 c. milk
Method
- Combine all dry ingredients; mix well.
- Cut in shortening. Combine milk and egg.
- Add to flour; stir until dry ingredients are moist.
- Turn dough onto floured surface and knead 8 to 10 times.
- Roll dough to 1-inch thickness.
- Cut and bake at 450° for 15 minutes.
- Yields 15 biscuits.
