Ingredients
- 8 eggs
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 1 1/4 c. cake flour
- 8 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
Method
- Beat together first 6 ingredients until very thick.
- Stir in flour.
- Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt until foamy. Slowly add 1 cup of sugar; beat until stiff glossy peaks form. Gradually beat yolk mixture into egg whites.
- Pour into ungreased 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake in 325° oven for 1 hour.
- Invert cake to cool.
- Cut cooled cake into 3 layers.
- Dust top with confectioners sugar.
