Ingredients
- 3 to 4 large green tomatoes, peeled and chopped
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 pie shell
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. allspice
- 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
- butter
- pinch of salt
Method
- Squeeze liquid from tomatoes; add vinegar and water.
- Sift sugar with salt, flour and spices; mix with tomatoes.
- Pour into pie shell and dot with butter.
- Cover as for apple pie.
- Bake at 450° for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350° and bake 30 minutes.
