Ingredients

  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. oleo or Crisco
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 c. wine or fruit juice
  • 3 tsp. soda, dissolved in 3 tsp. sweet milk
  • 1 lb. cherries
  • 1 lb. pineapple
  • 1 lb. dates
  • 1/2 lb. white raisins
  • 6 c. pecans (chopped fine)

Method

  • Cream
  • sugar and oleo, add egg yolks.
  • Sift spices with 2 cups flour and add to creamed mixture alternately with fruit juice
  • and sweet
  • milk mixture.
  • Dredge fruit and nuts with 1 cup
  • flour. Pour
  • batter
  • over dredged fruit and nuts.
  • Beat egg
  • whites stiff
  • and fold in last.
  • Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake at 325° for about 20 minutes.
