- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 c. oleo or Crisco
- 4 eggs, separated
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 3 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. wine or fruit juice
- 3 tsp. soda, dissolved in 3 tsp. sweet milk
- 1 lb. cherries
- 1 lb. pineapple
- 1 lb. dates
- 1/2 lb. white raisins
- 6 c. pecans (chopped fine)
Method
- Cream
- sugar and oleo, add egg yolks.
- Sift spices with 2 cups flour and add to creamed mixture alternately with fruit juice
- and sweet
- milk mixture.
- Dredge fruit and nuts with 1 cup
- flour. Pour
- batter
- over dredged fruit and nuts.
- Beat egg
- whites stiff
- and fold in last.
- Drop on greased cookie sheet and bake at 325° for about 20 minutes.
