Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. white Karo
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 or 2 c. nuts

Method

  • Bring sugar, Karo and water to full boil; turn flame to medium low and cook until small drops form a hard ball when dropped in cold water.
  • (Take about 12 to 15 minutes.)
  • Stir frequently to prevent scorching.
  • While this is cooking, beat 3 egg whites until very stiff.
  • Leave mixture on and pour cooked syrup into egg whites.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Do not stop beating.
  • Continue to beat until mixture is very stiff.
  • Stop and stir in nuts.
  • Drop immediately by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
  • Store in tight container to preserve fudginess.
