Ingredients
- 3 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. white Karo
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 3 egg whites
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 1 or 2 c. nuts
Method
- Bring sugar, Karo and water to full boil; turn flame to medium low and cook until small drops form a hard ball when dropped in cold water.
- (Take about 12 to 15 minutes.)
- Stir frequently to prevent scorching.
- While this is cooking, beat 3 egg whites until very stiff.
- Leave mixture on and pour cooked syrup into egg whites.
- Add vanilla.
- Do not stop beating.
- Continue to beat until mixture is very stiff.
- Stop and stir in nuts.
- Drop immediately by spoonfuls onto wax paper.
- Store in tight container to preserve fudginess.
