Ingredients
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/4 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 c. flour
- 1 (7 1/2 ounce.) box dates, minced
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. water
Method
- Cream butter and grated cheese together.
- Gradually add in flour, mixing to soft dough.
- Refrigeratein refrigerator at least one hour.
- Meanwhile combine minced dates, sugar and water in a saucepan.
- Cook over low heat, stirring constantly till soft (about 5 min).
- Cold.
- Break off small portions of chilled dough.
- Roll into ball in palm of hand.
- Flatten and place date mix in finger shaped pcs in center.
- (Or possibly make into small pie shaped pcs in center).
- Roll dough to cover mix.
- Bake on cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 15 min or possibly till golden.
- (Makes about 24 or possibly 30 pies).
- Great for parties, teas and snacks.
