Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour (self-rising)
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 1/2 c. oil or shortening
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 stick oleo
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 6 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 box powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Sift together in a large bowl sugar and flour.
  • Mix and boil rapidly for 2 to 3 minutes the 1 stick oleo, oil or shortening, 4 tablespoons cocoa and water.
  • Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar.
  • Mix well.
  • Add buttermilk, soda, cinnamon, eggs and vanilla.
  • Bake about 25 minutes at 350°.
  • Five minutes before cake is done, mix 1 stick oleo, 4 tablespoons cocoa and milk.
  • Bring to a boil and add powdered sugar and vanilla.
  • Spread on cake while hot.
