Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/8 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Method

  • Put 1/2 cup sugar in a dry skillet.
  • Heat until golden brown. Add water and cook until sugar is melted and forms a thin syrup. Combine with remaining ingredients in a large saucepan.
  • Boil rapidly to the soft ball stage. Remove from heat.
  • Place saucepan in a pan of cold water and beat until thick and creamy. Add vanilla. Will frost one 3 layer cake.
