Ingredients

  • 2 c. scalded milk
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • salt

Method

  • Butter a small casserole and line the bottom and sides with small squares of buttered bread.
  • Cut off the crusts.
  • Make a custard of the ingredients.
  • Mix and pour over the bread. Sprinkle ground cinnamon or nutmeg, whichever preferred, over top. Raisins may be added if you wish.
  • Place casserole in pan of boiling water and bake at 350° for one hour (or until a sliver knife comes out clean).
