Ingredients

  • Crust
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup ground almonds or pecans
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/3 tsp cinnamon
  • Filling
  • 3/4 cup strawberry, raspberry or blueberry jam
  • 1 cup fresh berries (sliced)
  • zest of lemon

Method

  • Cream butter, sugar, salt, vanilla. Stir in flours until soft dough forms. Divide into 2 balls. Press 1/2 into a 9x13 buttered baking pan and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  • Stir jam, berries and lemon zest together. Add lemon juice to taste.
  • Bake crust for 20 minutes at 325. Spread filling on crust, crumble remaining dough over the top. Bake an additional 45 - 50 minutes until beginning to brown.
