Ingredients
- 1/2 c. sugar or brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
- 4 c. thinly sliced, pared tart apples
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 well beaten egg
- 1/2 c. evaporated milk
- 1/3 c. butter, melted
Method
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup walnuts.
- Place apples in bottom of greased 8 1/4-inch round cake dish.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture. Sift dry ingredients.
- Combine egg, milk and butter. Add dry ingredients all at once. Mix until smooth.
- Pour over apples. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake 50 minutes in a 325° oven.
- Cut in wedges. Serve with cinnamon topped with whipped cream.
