Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. sugar or brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
  • 4 c. thinly sliced, pared tart apples
  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 1/2 c. evaporated milk
  • 1/3 c. butter, melted

Method

  • Mix 1/2 cup sugar, cinnamon and 1/2 cup walnuts.
  • Place apples in bottom of greased 8 1/4-inch round cake dish.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon mixture. Sift dry ingredients.
  • Combine egg, milk and butter. Add dry ingredients all at once. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour over apples. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake 50 minutes in a 325° oven.
  • Cut in wedges. Serve with cinnamon topped with whipped cream.
